The satisfying blues/roots/soul sound of Colin Lake shines through on his new album, One Thing That's For Sure. Released July 10 on Louisiana Red Hot Records, the album includes many guest appearances, including Luther Dickenson of the North Mississippi All-Stars, Maggie Koerner of Galactic, Sasha Masakowski, Topsy Chapman, and more. One Thing That's For Sure also has a top-notch producer at its helm in Eric Heigle, who has also worked with Arcade Fire, Lost Bayou Ramblers and Dr. John.

With this veteran cast of players, Lake puts forth a distinguished 11-track album that ranges from thoughtful and laid-back tracks ("A Quiet Mind," "La Madrugada") to dark rockers ("Pay the Price") and songs of the road ("Ninety-Nine Miles"). One of the album's best tracks, the bluesy "If It Ain't For You," well captures the anguish of a relationship on its way down.

Since arriving in New Orleans from Seattle, Lake has proven himself to be an accomplished slide guitarist and popular mainstay at some of the biggest festivals in the south. In recent years, he has performed at Jazz Fest, French Quarter Fest, Austin City Limits, and Hangout Fest. He's also opened for heavy-hitters in the southern blues/soul scene: Dr. John and Gary Clark, Jr.

Lake is offering a free download of "She's Mine" on his website.

The album is available to purchase on CD from the Louisiana Music Factory and on MP3 at iTunes and Amazon.
