Bassist Bootsy Collins discusses James Brown, P-Funk, and 'The One' in 'Finding the Funk.'

On February 4, 2014, the VH1 cable network aired the television premiere of Nelson George's Finding the Funk documentary, which has been making the film fest circuit since its 2013 release. The televised version of the film, edited down to 62 minutes from the longer director's cut, is "a journey through the origins and influence of funk music." Narrated by Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson of The Roots, and featuring interviews with Sly Stone, George Clinton, Bootsy Collins, D'Angelo, Sheila E., and many more, New Orleans is represented by WWOZ's own Soul Sister as well as the Soul Rebels Brass Band.
