"Ancestral Reunion"

Authored by:

This week’s show is about the way traditions--both musical and otherwise--find new hands to carry them on and new places for them to take root. Over the course of sixty minutes, we explore how our world is growing creatively closer as we dive into the kinds of "musical cross pollination" that has long found a home in New Orleans. Why do two sisters from the American South learn Cuban and Bulgarian music? What happens when a man from the Ivory Coast moves to the United States to form a band in New Orleans?

Event: Ogden Museum of Southern Art – Mark Hewitt “Big Hearted Pots”

Culinary Crossroads: Spicy stewed chicken with spinach, plantains and coconut rice.
