1) Saturday, September 22 is National Free Museum Day. Participating institutions in the New Orleans area include The Historic New Orleans Collection, The New Orleans Jazz Museum, The Cabildo, Hermann-Grima + Gallier Historic Houses, 1850 House, and The National World War II Museum.

2) Fried Chicken Festival returns to Woldenberg Park Saturday and Sunday! There are over 30 food vendors, plus performances from Mannie Fresh, Amanda Shaw, Shamarr Allen & the Underdawgs, Flow Tribe, Uptown Jazz Orchestra, Pine Leaf Boys, and more. The festival runs 11a-9p on Saturday and 11a-8p on Sunday.

3) Young Men Olympians are stepping out for their 134th annual second line parade this Sunday at 1p! Get the route sheet from WWOZ's Takin' It To The Streets

4) The 8th annual New Orleans Horror Film Fest is happening through Sunday at the Prytania Theatre. This year’s official selections include sixty films and twenty screenplay finalists, chosen from 590 national and international submissions.

5) The Music and Culture Coalition of New Orleans is celebrating 6 years with a party (and fundraiser) at Siberia on Friday, Sep. 21 starting at 7:30p. The party will feature live performances from the Original Pinettes Brass Band, Chapter SOUL, RQ Away and BLK, and hosted by DC Paul. There will also be raffle prizes from local businesses, appearances by the Camel Toe Lady Steppers, and more. 100% of the ticket proceeds go to support MaCCNO's mission through their programs, organizing, and advocacy work, including the creation of a Grassroots Cultural Master Plan, the production of our free Guide to New Orleans Street Performance and Good Visitors Guide to New Orleans, a push for a more economically equitable tourism industry, and much more.
