We all love New Orleans.  Through the best of times and the worst of times, we dedicate ourselves by truly LIVING for the city like no other community in the nation does. That’s why when I learned about NOAAHH, New Orleans Artists Against Hunger and Homelessness, (pronounced “Noah”, like the guy with the Ark) I had to spread the word about this organization. NOAAHH, as an organization, embodies the spirit of the individual New Orleanian by truly LIVING for the city and providing a helping hand for the less fortunate in the city by using the one thing New Orleans does better than anyone in the world, Music!

NOAAHH is an amazing non-profit that has been around for 25 years. That’s older than me! NOAAHH raises money for other great organizations like Ozanam Inn, NO/AIDS Task Force and the St. Vincent De Paul Society that help feed the hungry and house the homeless in the city. I know what you’re thinking. “How do I know the money REALLY goes to help the less fortunate?

While I understand this sentiment, somewhat, NOAAHH does not roll like that. NOAAHH has had a stellar reputation for 26 years as one of the most effective non-profits fighting this battle in the city. Sister Jane Remson, President of NOAAHH for 25 years and a great interviewee, has been a huge influence not only for positive social change in New Orleans but the WORLD. She does pretty mundane stuff like speaking in front of the United Nations and fighting against human trafficking in Indonesia.

If you don’t have goosebumps about NOAAHH already, don’t worry, you can experience the power of NOAAHH live and in person! Every year NOAAHH puts on a star-studded event featuring musicians we all know and love like Dr. John, Allen Toussaint, and Aaron Neville and all ticket sales go directly to help feed the hungry and house the homeless. NOAAHH also just threw an event at the House of Blues with Khris Royal, Shamar Allen and The Stooges Brass Band.

So keep your eyes AND ears open for NOAAHH sponsored events. Remember, when attending a NOAAHH event, you’re going out to enjoy a great show, but you’re still supporting an amazing organization! See y’all in the streets!
