Join me Monday, August 23 on Jazz from the French Market as we look back on the musical presence of Clyde Kerr Jr. who passed away a couple of weeks ago. We'll talk in-studio with Jonathan Bloom, Education Coordinator for the Thelonius Monk Institute of Jazz at Loyola University, about the musical education legacy of Mr. Kerr. We'll hear from Mr. Kerr's CD "This is Now," as well as the music of other New Orleans born and grown musicians such as Nicholas Payton, Christian Scott, Wynton Marsalis and Troy "Trombone Shorty" Andrews. We'l Lalso be featuring new music from Janis Mann, Lee Rittenour, Azar Lawrence, Donald Harrison, Jr. and Amina Figarova. And Dr. Lonnie Smith will be laying down some fat organ grooves for Charlie B's Orjazzm! in our third hour. The show is from 4-7p.m. CDT on WWOZ 90.7 FM and WWOZ.ORG.
