1) May the luck of the Irish be with us all this weekend as Louisiana's Irish population gears up for St. Patrick's Day and associated revelry. Lafayette is hosting the Celtic Bayou Fest on Friday and Saturday. In New Orleans, The Irish Channel St. Patrick's Day Parade will be held on Saturday starting at 12:30p.

2) The Jazz & Heritage Foundation is hosting another great edition of their free concert series on Monday, March 13. Etienne Charles will perform at the Jazz & Heritage Center (1205 N. Rampart) at 8p. "Jazz is Creole music," says Charles who was born in Trinidad and today teaches jazz trumpet at Michigan State University. "As a person in the new world, I've been influenced by so much music. And my family has a mixed background, with French Caribbean, Spanish and African roots as well as Venezuelan influences. I come from a fusion of rhythms, a fusion of cultures. That's what [my latest] album is all about: focusing on soul music that is Creole at heart."

3) YLC Wednesday at the Square returns with a bang on March 15! Irma Thomas will headline the first week of the free concert series with the Jamal Batiste Band opening. This free weekly concert series happens in Lafayette Square every Wednesday from 5-8p. Check out the full spring 2017 schedule.

4) Keep N It Real steps out on Sunday at 1p with their annual second line parade. Get the route sheet from WWOZ's Takin' It To The Streets. Kids Nation will also be hosting a second line and rally this Sunday.

5) WWOZ's Spring 2017 Pledge Drive is coming March 14-24. These are tenuous times for public broadcasting stations and we need your support. Become a member or renew your membership today.
