A Taste of the Deep South (formerly Henry Turner Jr. Day)

The 6th Annual A Taste of the Deep South Festival (formerly Henry Turner Jr. Day) features various genres of music such as blues, R&B, Spoken Word, jazz, Latin, Americana and more. International cultural dancers from the regional area will also perform. It also includes a Vendor’s Village with arts and crafts, clothing and jewelry and a Food Court with southern festival food favorites. Some of the talent expected to appear include blues great Henry Turner Jr. & Flavor and SmokeHouse Porter and Miss Mamie, along with Listening Room All-Stars Kelton ‘Npsire Harper and the Inspiration Band, Owen Scott, Pastor Leon Hitchens, comedian Eddie “Cool” Deemer and Larry “LZ” Dillon. Other acts expected include the West Wind Band and acts from Texas, North Carolina, Oklahoma and Nebraska. Lawn seating so bring your chairs. The event is family friendly and free to the public. Festival hours are 12 noon to 8:00pm daily at Riverfront Plaza, 300 River Road South, Baton Rouge, LA 70802. Special VIP tickets are available on the website and include covered seating, food and drink tickets. A Pre-Party will be held Thursday, November 3rd from 7pm to midnight at Henry Turner Jr.’s Listening Room. Admission is $25.00 in advance and $30.00 at the door.
