With over 30 artists and performers responding to this bilingual open call, the exhibition will showcase paintings, photography, glass, ceramic, metalwork, mixed media, poetry, fashion, and video. On view in the gallery through October 29th, 10 am - 4 pm Monday - Friday. The opening reception will feature food from La Cocinita, tunes from DJ Alfredo Salazar of Unión Migrante, and live art. Special performances by José Torres Tama, Guyana drummer Orlando “Majek Fingers” Primo, Raices Folkloric Band, Belinda Avila and New Orleans Hispano America Dance, emerging Reggaetonero Damian CH and closing out the evening will be Fermín Ceballos Y Merengue 4. We welcome local non-profits: Puentes New Orleans, I.Y.E.F( Immigrant Youth Empowerment Forum), Unión Migrante, and Voces Unidas, who will be in attendance to share the vital work they are doing with the Latin and Immigrant community. Focused on connecting and cultivating the Latine culture and community, this inaugural exhibition aims to create inclusive and equitable opportunities while fostering an environment for cultural and artistic exchange and engagement.
