The Trombone Shorty Foundation and the Gia Maione Prima Foundation are proud to present... the 6th Annual "Tunes for Toys" event at Tipitina's, Thursday December 19! This annual toy drive and concert is a spectacular way for the community to give back this holiday season, plus experience a night of incredible live music from our young Academy students with special guest Troy "Trombone Shorty" Andrews himself, as well as opening performances by Hot 8 Brass Band and New Breed Brass Band. This event is open to the public (ages 18+ only), but guests must bring a toy in exchange for admission. Doors open at 7pm, live music starting at 8pm. The Trombone Shorty Foundation Academy students are sure to deliver the standout performance of the night, at many of the students' first time on the historic Tipitina's stage. There's no better time of year to spread the joy while witnessing the next generation of New Orleans musical talent! The evening is made possible by the generous sponsorship of the Gia Maione Prima Foundation and JP Morgan Chase. “This event is very special to my heart,” says Foundation founder Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews. “We love being able to showcase our Academy students’ hard work, and, at the same time, give back to children in communities like the Treme, where I was born and raised.” The toys will be distributed on December 20th at Warren Easton High School at an event called "Toys from Troy," presented by JP Morgan Chase. There will also be refreshments, kids activities, and photos with Santa from 1pm-3:30pm.
