Word'oeuvres: A Celebration of Food & Creativity

Thursday, August 29, 2019 - 6:00pm
On Thursday, August 29, youth writing and publishing nonprofit 826 New Orleans hosts Word’oeuvres: a celebration of food & creativity from 6 PM to 9 PM at their Youth Writing Center located at 1750 St. Bernard Ave. The writing center, home to free writing workshops, an After School program, and more, welcomes a panel featuring award-winning Chefs Donald Link and Stephen Stryjewski of the Link Stryjewski Foundation (Herbsaint, Peche, Cochon and more), food writer Ian McNulty of The Times-Picayune l The New Orleans Advocate, and the young authors of 826 New Orleans. Tickets include a special menu of small plates by Donald Link and Stephen Stryjewski, wine and beer, and a special 826 New Orleans publication. All proceeds go directly towards our free youth writing programs. Word'oeuvres is inspired by our writing workshop of the same name, during which students spent a delicious afternoon sampling the same menu our guests will enjoy, and writing about it with McNulty. The students’ food reviews will be published in the anthology If You See This, You’re Gonna Eat It, to be released on the night of the event.
