Disrupting the School-to-Prison Pipeline: A ONE NOLA Public Action

Wednesday, May 31, 2017 - 6:00pm
Help us pack the house on May 31st to disrupt the school-to-prison pipeline! We've been preparing for months to unveil our demand of OPSB to the public: to mandate schools to provide supports for students readmitted after a disciplinary hearing and hold them accoutable to continuous support with behavior and development. Too many New Orleans students are suspended/expelled without being set-up for success to return to RETURN to schools! We are ADVOCATING for OPSB to adopt a 5-point-plan schools to provide supports for readmitted students and hold schools accountable for continuous support for those students. Be apart of education policy CHANGE in New Orleans! JOIN US WEDNESDAY EVENING, MAY 31st - 6-8PM! --- The mission of Student Support Network of ONE NOLA is to intentionally disrupt the school to prison pipeline by advocating for policy shifts at the school, district, and state levels that create preventative supports for students in schools using restorative justice and trauma-informed approaches. The Organizing Network for Education (ONE) NOLA is dedicated to uniting a coalition of parents, educators, students, and community members to take collective action on issues that impact educational equity, social justice, and the holistic wellness of children in New Orleans. http://www.1nola.org/
