Upcoming Shows

On Friday, November 12th at 8 pm at Zeitgeist Theatre, Bina Sharif will star in her acclaimed one-woman show, AFGHAN WOMAN. Written in 2001 by Ms. Sharif as a reaction to the horrific events of 9/11 and the following US military intervention of Afghanistan, Ms. Sharif first performed Afghan Woman at Theater of the New City in the East Village in New York City in January 2002. Afghan Woman, the story of a woman in Kabul wedged between the rule of the Taliban and the US occupation, has been staged in theaters in Hawaii, Belgium, Canada, England and, Pakistan. Bina Sharif has also performed Afghan Woman in over 20 universities in the United States. It is still one of the few plays written in the US that engaged with the tragedy of 9/11 and the subsequent US involvement in Afghanistan. Afghan Woman at Zeitgeist on November 12th will be the play’s first staging since the US government decided to end its 20-year military occupation of Afghanistan. This performance is being produced and co-sponsored by Mosaic Inter-Cultural Arts collective, a local non-profit as part of Zeitgeist theater's 35th-anniversary celebration. For more information, call Zeitgeist at 504-352-1150.
