There is a bunch of music that has a special feel and sound to it. Examples are Dr. John's Gris-Gris Zuzu Mamou and Dream Warrior, Miles Runs the Voodoo Down, Jimi's Voodoo Chile, much of Tony Joe White's general material. It often has a slow tempo and very funky beat, strong bass, lots of percussion, sometimes only uses one chord or just in a single key, sounding mostly minor or pentatonic.

Spending has stimulated the recent recessionary economy, and rich people have largely been the ones doing the spending. Even those who have many money have quit spending money casually, reports the New York Times. The Federal Reserve has acknowledged that America's economic recovery has slowed. Another stimulus could be around the corner with the economy getting any worse.
Hay you music mavens out there,
Here in the wilds of the North Cascades mountains we get what we call "summer people". One of these is a professor at Hendrix college in Arkansas and he is compiling a list of songs that either have Arkansas in the title or in the lyrics or are Arkansascentric. All I have been able to add to his list is Funky Arkansas by John Mooney.
I'm debating getting an HD Radio tuner for home use. I've read that it's presently ~96k for most stations that simulcast analog, and that a pure digital signal could be up to 300k. I have no idea how the codec used compares to mp3, but from what I've read it sounds pretty good in town.
Assuming the two come from the same source, which sounds better the 128k mp3 stream or the HD Radio?
I ask, why is it that some stations manage so easily to be so smooth? OZ gently floats layers of gentleness and grace upon our lives as a Cabbage Moth lays eggs upon the brassica leaf; such is the symbiosis.
