Saxophonist Alvin "Red" Tyler: A True New Orleans Musical Hero, Part 1

On May 9, the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival honored the life, legacy, and memory of the great saxophonist Alvin "Red" Tyler. Tyler was an integral part of the J&M Studio band run by Dave Bartholomew, which backed up everyone from Fats Domino and Little Richard to Shirley and Lee in the 1950s and 1960s.
