About Bryan Black
New Orleanian by choice, Bryan spent the first part of his life in Japan and North Carolina . After high school he attended Berklee College Of Music in Boston and immediately moved to NYC where he worked and gigged for 10 years in Salsa, Big Band, Jazz and Theatre. He has had the opportunity to teach, produce and record jingles, demos and soundtracks. Cramped by the city, Bryan went AWAY and worked as a musical director for cruise lines. There he successfully ran a 10 piece orchestra and managed eight other musical acts concurrently. This job dropped Bryan in New Orleans for the first time in his life. Falling in love with a pre-Katrina NOLA, he couldn’t stay away. Time well spent in Philly just didn’t compare and now he’s found a home in the crescent city.
WWOZ was always part of the draw back to New Orleans. Smelling imaginary crawfish boils in Philadelphia while listening to Jonny Ray, or getting ready to go out for the evening and dancing around to Funky Al Linsky or DJ Soul Sister, this station moves you. If you’re supposed to be here, here in this great city, WWOZ will get you here.
