About Mark LaMaire

Wisconsin native and life-long bassist/guitarist Mark LaMaire came to New Orleans fresh out of college to join WWOZ as a show host. Mark said he intended to stay only a handful of months and try his hand at community radio. Since then, Mark has firmly embraced New Orleans, endured Katrina, evacuated during the storm and then came back "to stay for good."

Outpourings of Mark's love of music include production of his shows at the station, playing music locally with his reggae band (and with anyone who needs a bass or guitar player), supporting local musicians in any way he can and writing music reviews for offBeat magazine.
