Sitting in today for Jazz from the French Market we celebrate a number of jazz birthdays including the legendary Nina Simone. Several songs also herald the carnival/Mardi Gras season in New Orleans.

We ended Jazz from the French Market by honoring the 55th Anniversay of Paul Gonsalves' magnificent solo at the Newport Jazz Festival in 1956.
