Program: Jazz from the French Market with Jelly Roll Justice or Suzanne Corley

The day before Jazz Fest 2010 and the studio is really in overdrive!  

Simple Theme:  All the music is by musicians in the coming New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival.

As for guests, the show started with Detroit Brooks briefly talking about the Fest tributes to his sister Juanita who passed away way, way to young.  

Next was the brilliant composer and musican Jose Conde who spoke about Ola Fresca and its New Orleans counterpart NOLA Fresca.  This extremely thoughtful and generous jazz artist discussed everything from his gig on Saturday night at The Maison on Frenchmen to his views about Cuban jazz....no, jazz in all its magnificence.  

Finally brilliant bassist David Pulphus and Sonya Robinson visited and gave a great presentation on MusicianCorps and teaching music to public primary school children in New Orleans.

Black Mold, WWOZ show host par excellence, once described us djs as having "the best ringside seat in America."  Right on the button!!
