Anthony Cuccia and Dr. Jimbo Walsh, representing one quarter of The Other Planets, were gracious enough this evening to foist upon the great wide world their absolutely incredible new album Hello Beams, right here from the treetops with me and Max. I'm flattered as all hell they'd let us hear so much of it so soon, even if only this once. If you missed it on-air tonight, you can catch em live (even better) at Check Point Charlie, 12 March. Otherwise, their CD release party is coming up in two interminable months, 1 May at Dragon's Den, playin with The Happy Talk Band. Delicious.

Enjoyed another Mockingbird show
The Miz-is-us Mockingbird was so excited about The Other Planet being on her upcoming show that she shoved cds across the studio desk at 1am last Sunday and practically demanded I start playing them immediately. After listening to last night's show, I now share her enthusiasm.
And she plays one of my all-time favorites; Stanley Cowell's Brilliant Circles. This woman has radio ears and chops.
