Why? The King of Love Is Dead
'Nuff Said
"King of Love" was written by Gene Taylor, Miz Nina Simone's bassist, upon his hearing of Dr. King's murder. This particular recording is their first performance of the song, three days after King's assassination. It's known to move folks to awed silence, if not outright tears. |

I took a chance that shouldn't've even been a question and played Dr. King's last speech in its greatglorious entirety. Mr. Bob French warned me about the kinda phone calls I would receive over it and, fortunately, he was mostly mistaken.
...Mostly. I did talk to a whole lotta folks tonight, and the easy majority that called were encouraged, were grateful, were as moved as I always always always am by this speech. Thank you, from my meatiest marrow.
