Program: Contemporary Jazz with Mockingbird

It's the Birfday/XMas show, kitten, and the best places to be during the holidays are both the seamy underbelly and the feathered crests, ideally both at the same time. XMas has been made into an excuse to sell things to innocuously labeled 'consumers,' the supposed teeming hordes of folks who hover alarmingly close to Running Out of New Things (I think that's s'posed to be us).  It's always seemed that way to me, anyway.  To wit, I was the kid in kindergarten who explained The Great Saint Nicholas Deception to every single classmate, so vehemently that some of em cried.  ...Okay, a lot of em cried. 

In the past couple years, I have had the good fortune of having someone show me the sweeter, more romantic, familial side of the holiday, and I am not so bitter as I once was.  Any ol holiday that comes down to Love (with a capital "L") is aces in my book. And if it happens to be mah birfday, as well?  Huh!  Girl, you ain't seen cookin like happens in mah kitchen!  Gonna love the hell outta some people's bellies, that's th'truth.

...But that Santa Claus thing?  Seriously?  Way too Orwellian for my taste.  Too J Edgar Hoover/COINTELPRO/KGB kinda thing by a long long way.  Y'know?

So, it's a bipolar rollercoaster kinda holiday, my darlin, and I'm oh so delighted you could come along.  Make sure that bar is locked down good and tight; we don't want anybody fallin out.
