Program: Jazz from the French Market with Vin Chary
As we begin Jazz from the Market, outside we can hear the tubas and sousaphones in the French Market celebrating Anthony "Tuba Fats" Lacen (September 15, 1950 - January 11, 2004). He was a tubist and band leader and without any effort could play the melody of any jazz tune you could name. Tuba Fats was New Orleans' most famous tuba player and played traditional New Orleans jazz and blues for over 40 years.
His music also took him on a number of tours all over the world.
