Program: Contemporary Jazz with Mockingbird

Okay, so my darlin cat boyfriend, Blue Bear/B'way, died Saturday morning, very unexpectedly.  One of the neighbors put out poison of some sort and Killed My Cat. ..."Not cool" doesn't even begin to cover it.

There's a buncha songs in this week's playlist that are all about or for my mankitty, who is still in my freezer, wrapped in monstera deliciosa and elephant ear leaves, until I can find an appropriate burial site.

And for what it's worth?  The roaming cats, stray or familied, are what help control the rodents endemic to any waterfront city. Poison rarely affects only the intended; it also has the potential to kill cats, birds, dogs, and human children, to name only a few.  It ain't worth it, in my not-so-humble opinion.  Might I suggest utilizing and supporting the local non-poisonous snake populations?  Black snakes, for example, are pretty sweet-tempered, shy, and very very hungry for delicious rodents.  They're also native to most of the US.  They eat 'til the rats are gone, then move on to richer pastures.  See?  Just like they evolved to do.  Like magic...except it's science.  Talk to your local extension service with questions.  If they're too far gone on the chemical bandwagon, ask the old folks in your neighborhood.

Don't go killin folks' families, whether they walk on two legs or four.  It just ain't right.

Oh, yeah, and this is obviously my opinion.  I'm not representin WWOZ or anything, just my own cityfarmgirl's heart.
