Program: New Orleans Music Show with Murf Reeves
Brass Bands - Some of the most beautiful music I have ever heard. I was wondering about brass bands and why they are so infectious. Listening to the Rebirth, or Young Tuxedo Brass band I hear blues, jazz, gospel, funk, but the umami underlying it all is the arrangement. The music is written for musicians to play and march. Whether it be funeral or parade, or interchanging them freely, the music is marching music. The songs have built in motion. How can one not start to dance upon hearing or feeling the songs. If you have never seen a brass band performance or participated in a second line, get out there - quick. Brass Band music is just one of the many magical ideas poppin off in this city every moment. Just jump in and enjoy the moment.
