Program: Blues in the Night with Jamie Dell'Apa

Sara's Vowels v.s. Announcer

Last week's pick hit was Screaming Jay Hawkin's Constipation Blues.  This week we move from bowels to vowels and play a dozen songs with so many vowels in their titles that most announcers cower at the back announce challenge.  Big babies.  Woosies.  Pansies.  If only announcers wore the type of safety equipment provided by WWOZ, these kinds of songs would be played.

Also tonight, songs about:

Rockabilly version of Islam's "17 virgins in heaven," (Rockabilly promises between 16 and 99 chicks)

A girl named "Safronia"

A puppy named, "Bo Obama" and

Tender young love songs that devolve into a terribly absurd territory.

Audio interstitials by Rocket J. Squirrel, George Bush, Three Stooges, Tarzan, Tattoo, Gumby, Powerpuff Girls, Lurch, Joe Friday, Gilbert Godfried, Rodney Dangerfield, Pee Wee, Marlon Brando, Don Knotts and Andy Griffin, Lilly Tomlin, Snagglepuss, Art Carney and a bunch of anonymous vocal chords.

The box score:

94 selections over two hours (the Mockingbird is doing the 2am to 3am hour)

47 songs

47 audio interstitials an aural yin and yang of songs and interstitials.  (I would rather have an oral gin and tang.)

75% of the oogly moogly vowel songs are from Louisiana musicians

only one song about outer space and finally, finally I found a place to put in T. Valentine's completely off-the-charts lesbian song.

Thanks to Dwayne for not firing me again this week,

The Hound for the music and inspiration, and

Wow!  What nice e-mails and phone calls are showing up on the evil plastic devices.
