Program: Swing and Big Band with The Minister of Swing

Beginning the show with a tribute to cornetist extraordinaire Bubber Miley, the first star of the Ellington organization who helped develop their popular "jungle" sound along with trombonist Tricky Sam Nanton using growls and wah wah techniques with their various mutes. Miley was born April 3, 1903.  After that we catch up with xylophonist Red Norvo, who together with wife Mildred Bailey was named Mr. and Mrs. Swing. Norvo's birthday was March 31, 1908. Finally, we get to Billie Holiday born April 7, 1915. Not much really to say beyond she's my favourite jazz vocalist and I know many others who agree.
