Toons or Tunes?

(Audio archives to be posted.... soon?)

While asleep it is nearly impossible to distinguish between reality and dreams. When awakened from a nightmare, your fear response continues for hours.  So for all who wussy-out by falling asleep with the radio still on during this show, I'm hoping your dreams tonight are in cartoon.   I hope you are pole vaulting over moats into castles, trying to buy a two-cent gorilla at the pet store, flying a giant asian robot via a two lever remote control, and hunting talking animals with the large springs and anvils that the NRA lobby completely ignores.

Usually on this Saturday night show we select a musical theme and place audio snippets between songs to add richness to the music.  Tonight's is the reciprocal where the cartoon audio (between songs) follows a theme while the music is the random interstitial audio adding richness to the dialog snippets and cartoon theme music.   As Professor Phumble (and later Homer J. Simpson) would say; "Woo Whoo!"

As always, thanks to the management of WWOZ for humoring me and to The Hound at WFMU for the music downloads and inspirations.  Tonight's scorecard:

100+ selections (averaging <01:45 per selection)

13 cartoon theme songs

One musical segment on atomic bombs via request (I love bomb songs)

And a regretful inability to fill the most esoteric request of my life:  Huckleberry Hound singing; "Darling Clementine"

Listen next week as Keith Twitchell of the Krewe du Vieux joins me to give you an audio preview of the Krewe's parade.

 Throw-away lines:

"... the right to bear arms really means something to Yogi and Boo Boo."

"... pry my anvil from my cold hands..."

"If they outlaw boxing gloves on springs, then only outlaws will have boxing gloves on springs."

So what kind of a loser presidential candidate would quote New Orleans' Vince Vance (Ellen's brother) and expect to be taken seriously. I wonder who this candidate would select for a VP running mate?
