Happy 59th Birthday Nick Lowe. Born March 24, 1949.
Liner Notes from recording quoting Nick; "I Knew Cajun music because Johnny Allan had a top 10 hit with "Promised Land" in England, and the guys that play with me used to play with him. So we had the whole swamp-pop thing here, and I used to see the real cajun stuff, Eddie LeJiune and D.L. Menard, whenever they came over. I don't know how artistically marvelous my track is because my French is at best schoolboy French, but Ann sent me a version of George Jones' "Don't Stop the Music" sung in Cajun-French by the Balfa Brothers and it made sense. And I asked Steve Riley and the band to pick me up so I wouldn't sound so much like Gore Vidal singing "Tuti Fruti" and they were really good about it and it was great fun to do" |
Marc Savoy "Evangeline 2-Step" 45 Crazy Cajun 536 Playlist for 2nd part of show is under Jim Hobbs playlist |
