January 9, 1947. Oliber was the longtime trumpeter and arranger for Jimmie Lunceford's Orchestra, later he took a job with Tommy Dorsey before forming his own band. This CD is remarkable and one of the best I've picked up in recent times. Unfortunately for the Oliver band, by the time many of these songs came out, the big band era was winding to a close.
