Guitarist Bill Frisell will be the guest of honor at the 33rd annual Telluride Jazz Celebration in the gorgeous mountain setting of Colorado on June 5-7. Bands include Ozomatli, Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe, Jimmy Herring, Donald Harrison Quintet, Christian Scott Quartet, Rebirth Brass Band, Benevento/Russo Duo, Lizz Wright, and more! 'OZ Vibes: Preservation Hall Jazz Band

Preservation Hall Jazz BandThe legendary tradition-bearing Preservation Hall Jazz Band is coming to WWOZ on Saturday, May 30, at 6 p.m. to chat and perform during Block Party with Brice Nice. They'll discuss their new album, New Orleans Preservation, Vol. 1, which was recorded in January 2009 at the hallowed Preservation Hall and features performances from Charlie Gabriel, Mark Braud, Walter Payton, and Clint Maedgen. And they'll be sharing their enduring brand of traditional New Orleans jazz live on the air and online, so tune in and don't miss out!

"Simply Red": a Tribute to Alvin “Red” Tyler

The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation will present "Simply Red," a tribute to the legendary New Orleans saxophonist Alvin "Red" Tyler, at the Contemporary Arts Center, 900 Camp Street in the Warehouse District.

The tribute will feature stories and music that made "Red" Tyler a New Orleans original. Scheduled to appear are Germaine Bazzle, Ed Perkins, Chris Severin, Steve Masakowski, Johnny Vidacovich, Roderick Paulin, Albert June Gardner, David Torkanowsky, Thaddeus Richard, Clyde Kerr Jr., and more.
