The French Quarter Festival took over the entire Quarter from April 7-10 and was the perfect opportunity to see the best acts the Crescent City has to offer, all in one location.

WWOZ broadcast the following live performances: New Orleans Moon Shiners, Aurora Nealand & the Royal Roses, Coot, Some Like It Hot, Iris May Tango, Tornado Brass Band featuring Darryl Adams, New Bumpers Revival Band, Mas Mamones, Kora Konnection, and "A Celebration of Modern Jazz Masters Ellis Marsalis, Harold Battiste and James Black" with performances by Victor Atkins, Ed Peterson and Steve Masakowski.

My Darlin' New Orleans: HBO's Treme Fundraiser

WWOZ will be broadcasting live from the 2nd Annual “My Darlin’ New Orleans” Auction and Celebrity Gala benefiting The Roots of Music and the New Orleans Musicians’ Clinic and Assistance Foundation, sponsored by HBO's Treme.

Musicians to perform include: Glen David Andrews, John Boutte, Washboard Chaz, Tom McDermott, Aurora Nealand, Matt Perrine, Paul Sanchez, the Pfister Sisters and The Roots of Music Marching Crusaders

The Auction and Celebrity Gala will take place at 7 p.m. Saturday, February 12, 2011 at Generations Hall, 310 Andrew Higgins Drive, New Orleans, LA. This unique red carpet event will feature a live and silent auction, an opportunity to mingle with the actors, producers and crew of Treme, specialty dishes prepared by local celebrity chefs and performances by some of New Orleans finest musicians. Rising Appalachia

Tune in to hear the collective sounds of Rising Appalachia, a band started by sisters Leah and Chloe, with eclectic music including poetry and spoken word, banjos, fiddles, drums, kalimbas and washboard. They are backed by band members Imhotep on the New Orleans bass drum, Abram on contra bass, and Forrest on the beats.

We rang in the New Year with a special New Year's Eve live broadcast by WWOZ, featuring Grammy Award-Winning jazz trumpeter, Irvin Mayfield on Friday, December 31, beginning at 10:30 p.m. A special New Year's event, The Irvin Mayfield Jazz Playhouse presented, "A Toast from New Orleans," inviting listeners from across the globe to experience New Year's Eve New Orleans style.

Irvin Mayfield will presented his all-star Jazz Playhouse Revue, featuring David Torkanowsky, Shannon Powell, Don Vappie, Leon "Kid Chocolate" Brown, Lucien Barbarin, and entertainer Trixie Minx.
