On Thursday, December 11, students from the Dolores T. Aaron Academy Drumline will take to the air waves at WWOZ in the most recent edition of Cuttin' Class. Cuttin' Class showcases NOLa's newest crop of young musicians in a series of live in-studio performances by middle and high school age students from the Greater New Orleans area.
On November 16, Irvin Mayfield will host a concert titled "From the Bayou to the Bay" for one night only at Cal Performances’ Zellerbach Hall at the University of California, Berkeley.
The performance will feature a special presentation of NOJO favorites and New Orleans classics performed by Mayfield, the NOJO Big Band and special guests.
The concert will begin at 7p PST (9p CST) and will be broadcast live on WWOZ.

We will be witnessing history to see Herbie Hancock receive a Lifetime Achievement Award from Quincy Jones, with special guest Bruce Willis. Herbie himself will make an all-star tribute to our beloved trumpeter Clark Terry. Appearances by Questlove and Verdine White.10-time GRAMMY winner Chaka Khan will pay homage to Maurice White (of Earth, Wind and Fire).As always, we will have seat-rocking talent from young gems like the soon-to-be-famous Cuban sensation Jorge Luis Pacheco and 13-year-old piano prodigy Matthew Whitaker, plus veterans like Jimmy Heath, Albert 'Tootie' Heath, Wallace Roney, Buster Williams, Billy Hart, Steve Jordan and "The Soul of America" Charles Bradley, not to mention the wonderful surprises to be announced as we get closer to “Showtime!”

It's that time of the year! The 2014 Crescent City Blues & BBQ Festival will take place October 17-19 down at Lafayette Square. The event is presented by the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival & Foundation.
WWOZ will be there broadcasting (and eating many pulled pork sandwiches) so come on by! Check back later for the broadcast schedule.
