The eighth annual Congo Square New World Rhythms Festival celebrates  the many traditions that trace back to Congo Square - including brass bands, Mardi Gras Indians and the music from Africa, the Caribbean and the Gulf South.

The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation's Class Got Brass contest takes place Sunday.

Membership Drive Closeout from the Mother-In-Law Lounge

On Friday, March 13, we'll be ending the Spring Membership Drive in style! OZ is broadcasting live from Kermit's Mother In Law Lounge in the Tremé, and you're invited to join us. We'll bring the live music, WWOZ DJs and throw a party. You'll be able to come by and get your membership in person, or just hang out and enjoy the company. 

We'll be at the club, at 1500 North Claiborne from 11am to 7pm. Check back closer to March 13th for a full list of performers and a schedule of the mayhem we're planning for our listeners!

MLK Jazz Journey Concert with Jonathan Butler, January 16

The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation will present its 4th Annual Jazz Journey Tribute to Martin Luther King on Friday, January 16. 

In concert will be Grammy-nominated South African R&B and gospel artist Jonathan Butler.

Also performing for Jazz Journey are The Nu Legends with New Orleans' own Nicholas Payton, Herlin Riley, Max Moran, David Torkanowsky and Donald Harrison. 

Jazz Journey will be carried on Wwoz 90.7 FM and on the internet at wwoz.org, live from the Dillard University Memorial Chapel beginning at 7:15.

Several speakers will deliver comments on Dr. King's legacy in the context of current events.
