WWOZ Live Event Broadcasts

The latest in our 'OZ Vibes series of live in-studio concerts will feature New Orleans supergroup Tin Men. The band includes Matt Perrine on sousaphone, Alex McMurray on guitar/vocals, and Washboard Chaz Leary on... you guessed it, washboard. The concert series is generously sponsored by The Transportation Revolution — the Home of Ducati, Triumph & Vespa New Orleans.

On Friday the 13th, WWOZ will be very lucky to have the New Wave Brass Band, led by Oscar R. Washington, playing live in our performance studio during the New Orleans Music show hosted by Black Mold (11 a.m. - 2 p.m.). Tune in to 90.7 FM if you're local, or listen online.

Pianist (and 'OZ show host) David Torkanowsky and blues singer Luther Kent will perform a duo set on Thursday's Blues Ball with David Torkanowsky (2 - 4 p.m.).

Tanya Boutté will join Sherwood Collins' New Orleans Music show on Thursday (11 a.m. - 2 p.m.) to perform live in WWOZ's performance studio. A member of the musical Boutté clan that includes acclaimed vocalists John Boutté, Lillian Boutté and Tricia Boutté, Tanya sings a soulful mix of R&B, jazz, and gospel with an authority few other vocalists can lay claim to.

Vic Shepherd will be bringing his resonator guitar and harmonica into our broadcast studio to perform live during Thursday morning's Traditional Jazz show (9 - 11 a.m.) hosted by Lisa Barrios. Tune in to 90.7 FM in New Orleans or online at WWOZ.org to catch this mix of jazz, blues, and New Orleans roots music.

On Wednesday afternoon's blues and R&B show, Sittin' at the Crossroads with Big D (2 - 4 p.m.), bluesmen Big Daddy O, Jesse Moore, and Troy Turner will each perform in WWOZ's performance studio. We'll be broadcasting it live, so be sure to tune in to 90.7 FM in New Orleans or online at WWOZ.org.

Midnight Streetcar, led by bassist Cullen Landry, will unleash its horn-laden '50s New Orleans R&B sound on listeners during Jivin' Gene and Neil Pellegrin's Tuesday evening show (7 - 10 p.m.). Tune in to catch this band dedicated to preserving New Orleans' own brand of R&B from the mid-20th century, playing live right here in WWOZ's performance studio. 

Marc Stone's Tuesday Soul Serenade show (2 - 4 p.m.) will feature live performances by Marc Stone, Groovesect, Big Al Carson, and Jimmy Carpenter.

Trombonist Rick Trolsen will lead a quintet for a live broadcast from our WWOZ performance studio during Monday's Jazz From the Market show, hosted by Charles Burchell (4 - 7 p.m.). 

Trumpeter/vocalist Leroy Jones will perform a duo set with guitarist Todd Duke live in our broadcast studio during Sunday's Swing Session with Kathleen Lee (6 - 8 p.m.).
