The 4th annual Mid-City Bayou Boogaloo will be held on Friday, May 22, and Saturday, May 23 on the banks of the beautiful Bayou St. John in New Orleans. The free, family-friendly music and arts festival is put on by the MotherShip Foundation and features some of the best bands in New Orleans, including Little Freddie King, Soul Rebels, Charmaine Neville, Bo Dollis Jr. and the Wild Magnolias, and tons more!

"Simply Red": a Tribute to Alvin “Red” Tyler
Venue: Contemporary Arts Center
The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation will present "Simply
Red," a tribute to the legendary New Orleans saxophonist Alvin "Red"
Tyler, at the Contemporary Arts Center, 900 Camp Street in the Warehouse District.
The tribute will feature stories and music that made "Red" Tyler a New Orleans original. Scheduled to appear are Germaine Bazzle, Ed Perkins, Chris Severin, Steve Masakowski, Johnny Vidacovich, Roderick Paulin,

Christian Scott

Trumpet star Christian Scott will be performing two sets at Snug Harbor on April 30. Show times are 9 and 11 p.m., and we'll be broadcasting the 11 p.m. set live on the air and online.
Raised in the Lower Ninth Ward of New Orleans and trained at institutions like NOCCA and Berklee, Christian recently released his best album to date, Anthem, dedicated to his hometown's post-Katrina rage. He's also versatile far beyond the jazz scene, having worked with stars like Mos Def and Jill Scott.

We'll be broadcasting Kermit Ruffins live from his own club, Sidney's Saloon, starting at 10:30 p.m. An alumnus of Rebirth Brass Band, Kermit is a must-hear in New Orleans, performing a mix of funky-yet-trad originals, brass band classics, and traditional jazz tunes like "Tiger Rag".
