Larry Sieberth, Harrah’s Joint’s Jumpin’ - Thursday July 10

Show Host Sherwood Collins will visit with Larry Sieberth, pianist and musical director for Joint’s Jumpin’, the New Orleans R&B review that debuts this weekend at Harrah’s Ballroom. Vocalists from Joint’s Jumpin’ will also be participating in this special in-studio performance.


Bonnaroo: June 12 - June 15

WWOZ will be broadcasting live from the Somethin’ Else stage at Bonnaroo, a four-day, multi-stage camping festival held on a 700-acre farm in Manchester, Tennessee.

Harrah’s Presents is the sponsor of ‘OZ on the Road’s live broadcast of the Bonnaroo Jazz Fest.

Great French Market Creole Tomato Festival: June 13 - June 15

This festival is part of the New Orleans Vieux-To-Do, which combines three summer festivals into one. Based in the newly re-furbished French Market, the Tomato Festival features two music and food stages, one in the Farmer’s Market and a Latin stage at Dutch Alley. There will be 20 booths offering Creole favorites and local chefs putting on cooking demonstrations at both stages. WWOZ will be broadcasting from the Farmer’s Market Stage (located at Ursuline Street near the French Market).

Telluride Jazz Celebration: June 5-8

WWOZ travels for the second straight year to the San Juan Mountains in Southwestern Colorado for the 31st annual Telluride Jazz Celebration. The festival is held from June 5th to the 8th and this year features two New Orleans icons, The Neville Brothers and Dr. John. Also scheduled to perform are Bettye LaVette, Maceo Parker, McCoy Tyner and many more.

2008 Mid-City Bayou Boogaloo: May 23 & 24

The Bayou Boogaloo is a free admission music and visual arts festival held in the heart of New Orleans on the banks of Bayou St. John. The Bayou Boogaloo was founded in 2006 to restore the social fabric of Mid-City and the surrounding neighborhoods in the wake of hurricane Katrina, to reconnect neighbors and neighborhoods, and to provide hope for the future of the city through a celebration of New Orleans’ rich cultural heritage. There are four stages of activity including a children’s stage and an arts fair. The performances are a mixture of Mardi Gras Indians, brass bands, reggae, singer-songwriter and so much more.

WWOZ will be broadcasting from the Orleans Stage at the Mid-City Bayou Boogaloo festival from 7 - 9 p.m Friday the 23rd and from 11 - 9 p.m. on Saturday the 24th.

Percussionist, Menwar, direct from the island of Mauritius begins the evening when WWOZ goes live at 10: pm.

Stay tuned as the world-reknown Toubab Krewe follow at 11:30. The Toubab Krewe experience combines traditional West African music with a taste of reggae and latin thrown in.
