The Don Jamison Heritage School of Music is a free after-school program that has been the flagship education initiative of the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and Foundation, Inc. since 1990.
The program features star faculty like Kidd Jordan (pictured) and has helped to launch the careers of musicians like trombonist Sammy Williams (leader of Big Sam's Funky Nation) and trumpeter Shamarr Allen. Each year, the Heritage School's students perform at Jazz Fest, French Quarter Festival and many other events.
Auditions will be held:
Saturday, January 16, at 10 a.m. on the second floor of the Cook Fine Arts Center at Dillard University (2601 Gentilly Blvd.)
Thursday, January 21, at 3:30 p.m. on the fourth floor of Lusher High School (5624 Freret St.)
