Yeah, You Right!

This week we tracked down bassist Jesse Boyd between gigs with Charmaine Neville, Bob French, and his own band, and put him on the hot seat. The versatile virtuoso also recently celebrated the release of his new CD, True Stories, which has flavors of modern jazz and film scores.

This week's guest on "Yeah, You Right" is consummate blues artist J. Monque'D. Having performed in New Orleans professionally since the age of 13, J. has become a force to be reckoned with on the local Crescent City scene. He plays all over town with his own J. Monque'D Blues Band as well as with the group Shotgun House.

This week's guest on "Yeah, You Right!" is Joe Krown, whose soulful piano and Hammond B-3 organ graced Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown's band for over a dozen years. Now he's got an all-star trio, an Organ Combo, and a weekly solo show, plus lots of sideman and festival work. We slowed him down just enough to answer a few questions.

Guitarist Billy Iuso may be a native of Port Chester, New York, but he's been a stalwart of the New Orleans music scene since 1996. He spent many years fronting a jam-funk band called Brides of Jesus, but has since gone solo, performing as Billy Iuso and the Restless Natives, which gives him the opportunity to go beyond the jam-funk mold. He is also the guitarist in one of the most powerful New Orleans Mardi Gras Indian funk groups, 101 Runners. He's often featured in WWOZ live broadcasts, and you can catch him around town at various festivals and clubs like the Maple Leaf and Le Bon Temps Roulé.
