It is with sadness and heavy hearts that we inform you that Former New Orleans Fire Department Superintendent Warren McDaniels died late Sunday, February 24, 2008. Chief, as we knew him, loved and supported the Foundation and what it stood for, and we were blessed that he presided over our Foundation during its most trying times of change and instability. We are especially grateful to Chief McDaniels for his service, for we probably would not be enjoying the fruits of progress today if not for his strong and steady leadership and his qualities of compassion, fairness and decisiveness.

A major memorial is being planned in honor of Chief McDaniels. All Board members, volunteers and staff of the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival and Foundation, Festival Productions, Inc./AEG Live, Inc. are invited to attend these activities.
