That Sounds Good! is a collection of recipes drawn from WWOZ's Louisiana music community. The book contains a variety of eats and drinks which reflect the cultural mix and character of the station... from Russell Batiste's "Rockin' Spaghetti" to Dr. John's "Raccoon Stew" to Kermit Ruffin's "Barbecue Smoked Turkey".
But it's far more that just a cookbook. That Sounds Good! also contains a history of the station's 30+ years, and images from the WWOZ's past, like logos, photos, and even an old program schedule.
WWOZ's friends and family have been devouring our cookbook since it was published in November 2012, and now we are thrilled to announce that That Sounds Good! will be featured in the Jazz Fest Book Tent this year!
Our thanks to all those involved in producing this beautiful volume, led by WWOZ Board Member Deborah Harkins, without whose tireless work the publication of That Sounds Good! simply would not have happened.
On his last visit to WWOZ, Chubby Carrier took a few minutes to talk with us about his recipe Chubby Carrier's Creole Chicken and how to best brew this baby to Chubby Creole perfection! The tune you're hearing is called "Swampadelic" off Chubby Carrier & The Bayou Swamp Band's Grammy-winning album: Zydeco Junkie.
