Project 30-90 Music & Art Festival

Sound and Sustainability Concert from May 2009
Sound and Sustainability Concert from May 2009

Produced by New Orleans-based Don Kelly Productions, Project 30-90 is the culmination of the company's Sound and Sustainability Summer Series and runs on alternative power with a very small carbon footprint. The event kicks off at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 5.

The name Project 30-90 reflects the latitude and longitude of New Orleans, which is 30.2 degrees north by 90.1 degrees east. The event was originally to be held next to the Ernest J. Morial Convention Center, but it has been moved to River City Plaza at Blaine Kern's Mardi Gras World. Due to the change, the festival will now feature one stage instead of two, and the Von Bondies are no longer scheduled to play. See below for the updated music schedule.

Music Schedule (as of 8/31)

2 p.m. Gates open
3-3:45 p.m. The Generationals
4-4:45 p.m. MyNameIsJohnMichael
5:15-6:10 p.m. Jason Isbell & 400 Unit
6:30-7:20 p.m. Charlie Mars
7:45-8:45 p.m. Benjy Davis Project
9:15-10:15 p.m. Grace Potter & The Nocturnals
10:45 p.m. - 12 a.m. Ghostland Observatory

In addition to live music, the Arts Market (sponsored by the Arts Council of New Orleans) will feature 30 environmentally committed local artists using recycled, organic, or non-toxic materials.

You may purchase tickets at the gate the day of the event, and cyclists can park their bikes inside the festival grounds. For more information, email or visit the Project 30-90 web site.

green fest

You know it all sounds so warm and greeny but who picked the bands? Who are they trying to draw, Tulane students? Where are the brass bands? Kermit? Does anyone plan to go? Please report about how many attended and if there was anyone over 25.

Something New for a Change

You don't have to be over 25 to know that New Orleans also has roots in rock. I highly recommend going to see one of these bands that are outside your normal box if you get the chance. You might just learn something new.
