In honor of the 101st anniversary of the birth of one Mr. Danny Barker - musician, author, teacher, writer, griot, and just general MAN of New Orleans music, the five part Danny Barker Radio Series will air on 90.7 FM New Orleans, WWOZ, www.wwoz.org. This will happen on the Kitchen Sink show 1/12/10 from 10 PM to Midnight CST.
The satirical Krewe du Vieux Carre parade will take place on Saturday, January 30, 2010, rolling through the Marigny and French Quarter. The King of KdV for 2010 will be hisself the music legend Dr. John, with Priestess Miriam Chamani reigning as Queen.
In typical KdV fashion this years theme "All Fired Up" is in reference to the August 4 fire that caused damage to the KdV den.
