Nationwide Gulf Coast Benefit Concerts on July 1

On July 1, 2010, more than two dozen venues across the United States — including Tipitina's right here in New Orleans — will hold simultaneous benefit concerts to provide assistance for victims of the ongoing BP oil disaster in the Gulf of Mexico. The concerts will attempt to raise $500,000 for the Gulf Restoration Network, which will distribute the funds to fishermen and their families along the Gulf Coast, as well as to wildlife and wetlands restoration organizations.

Artists confirmed for Tipitina's in New Orleans include Galactic, Coco Robicheaux, Rotary Downs, Joe Krown Trio with Walter "Wolfman" Washington and Russell Batiste, Ivan Neville, "Papa" John Gros, We Are One Brass Band, and Young Fellaz Brass band.

The concerts are being organized by Nic Adler & Megan Jacobs (of The Roxy in Los Angeles), Casey Phillips (talent buyer for venues including Tipitina's in New Orleans and Viper Room & The Mint in Los Angeles), and Sloane Berrent (founder of Answer With Action and creator of The Causemopolitan).
