To celebrate Independence Day, the New Orleans Concert Band (NOCB) will be performing patriotic favorites, symphony classics and show tunes at a free concert that is open to the public from 2:00 - 4:00p.m. at the National World War II Museum.
The concert will feature patriotic favorites, some Broadway classics, selections from Gershwin, Berlin and even Billy Joel, as well as a compilation of Disney soundtracks.
For over 30 years, the NOCB’s mission has been to “provide free public concerts by volunteer musicians to the public of the greater New Orleans area, to encourage and foster adult concert community, municipal, and civic bands, and to promote the performance of the highest quality traditional and contemporary literature for band.”
The New Orleans Concert Band is one of hundreds of community bands throughout the nation. The NOCB receives its support through its membership dues, donations from individual supporters and through gifts of instruments and grants from various local organizations.
