New Orleans Friends of Music is proud to continue the “Let’s Talk Music!” family concert series with a presentation by the world-renowned Imani Winds in “A Musical Journey Around the World,” at Dillard University on Sunday, April 7 at 4 p.m. The Imani Winds, a Grammy award-winning wind quintet, are deeply committed to education and outreach programming, and this program features original and arranged music for wind quintet, age-appropriate introduction to the instruments, a variety of jazz, classical, and world music excerpts, active listening activities, and Q&A opportunities. Immediately prior to the family concert, members of the Greater New Orleans Youth Orchestra will offer an instrument petting zoo. Attendees will have the opportunity to examine different wind instruments up close and learn more from these young performers about how the music is made.
Come swing with The Yat Pack, a New Orleans-based band that brings back the swing era with a Vegas flair. Sinatra, Dean Martin, Louis Prima, Buble, Cocker, Connick, Frogman... you name it, we'll play it if it's swingin'!

The New Orleans Civic Symphony will perform on Sunday, April 7 at 7:30 PM at the University of New Orleans Performing Arts Center. Works by Tchaikovsky and Borodine will be presented. Dr. Charles Taylor will conduct the concert which is free to the public.
