Irvin Mayfield’s “Love Sessions” Benefit Non-Profits

Outspoken New Orleans trumpeter Irvin Mayfield presents a series of concerts entitled “The Love Sessions – Six Nights of Music and Six Nights of Giving” at the Jazz Playhouse in the Royal Sonesta Hotel.

August 25 through August 30, each of the six nightly concerts will feature the music of Los Hombres Calientes, and all proceeds will go to local non-profit groups that mentor children, care for the homeless, run literacy programs, support our police, provide mental health services, and aid our local musicians.

In a press release, Mayfield states, “During these tough economic times and in remembrance of Hurricane Katrina, it is important to recognize, support, and provide love offerings to groups that our strengthening our community.”

Each night, proceeds from “Love Sessions” will benefit the following non-profit organizations:

Tuesday, August 25: Unity for the Homeless

Wednesday, August 26: New Orleans Police & Justice Foundation

Thursday, August 27: Boys Town Louisiana

Friday, August 28: New Orleans Public Library

Saturday, August 29: New Orleans Jazz Orchestra

Sunday, August 30: LSU Health Science Center Department of Psychiatry

Sponsors of “Love Sessions” include: Entergy, Gambit Weekly, Tommy Bahama Rum, Jones Walker, Basin Street Records, Adams and Reese LLP, and the Royal Sonesta Hotel New Orleans.

Irvin Mayfield’s Jazz Playhouse is located in the Royal Sonesta Hotel at 300 Bourbon Street in the heart of the French Quarter. Performances begin at 8:00 p.m each night. Tickets may be purchased online or by calling 888-512-SHOW.
