French Market Events Sunday, July 11

This Sunday, July 11, parts of Decatur and N Peters Streets will be shut down from 3:45 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. between St. Peter Street and Ursulines to make way for the French Market Waiters Race. There will also be a post-World Cup African music performance in Dutch Alley by Kora Konnection featuring Senegalese Kora master Morikeba Kouyate and saxophonist Tim Green.


3:30 p.m.: Tornado Brass Band plays at Gazebo Café in the French Market to kick things off

4:00 p.m. Waiters Race begins: 25 waiters speedwalking down Decatur with trays of water

4:30 p.m. Waiters Race ends near Gazebo Café, and Tornado Brass Band plays again at awards ceremony

5:00 p.m. Decatur reopens

5:00-6:00 p.m. Party at the Gazebo Café featuring the Hot Club of New Orleans

5:00-8:00 p.m. In honor of the World Cup finals in Africa, enjoy live African music from in Dutch Alley at the French Market featuring Kora Konnection!
