Snooks Eaglin Arhoolie 2014 Possum up a Simmon Tree

Recently came across this LP while digging thru Herp Alpert,
Barbara Streisand, Roger Miller and Fleetwood Mac Rumors records.
Actually picked up nearly a dozen Arhoolie records that day.

There is a God.

Anyway, any insights would be appreciated. Fairly sure Snooks
played with Fess early on at the Jazz Fest, correct?

Thanks in advance for the real story, or insights.

You folks are one of the best radio stations in the entire USA
but that is merely an opinion based on personal experience.

Keep up the great wwwork. Tell your boss I said you all deserve a raise.

Snooks Eaglin...

Hey vinyldisk,

you are right - afaik it was Jazz Fest in 1971 when Fess was just "rediscovered". Snooks also joined recording sessions with Professor Longhair in 1971 and 1972. You can read a bit about it at Bluesaccess.

At WWOZ it is the best radio station on this planet -period.

Yeah, it is great work the volunteers and the staff perform. It appears you are not aware that OZ operates with only a minimum tiny staff of payed folks. All the show hosts are volunteers who donate their time and often more to make the magic of OZ happen. A lot more volunteers work in the background to keep everything going. How thrilling this can be at times you can read about in an article by Big D on the forum A bit of history to help understand.

I am a long time listener and supporter of OZ and it is on us to keep it up ! Let me assure you that we do welcome everybody in the family.

I was kidding around...

I realize the level of volunteerism. That is part of what makes
it special, I agree.

I was kidding around about the raises, but then, not really.
