I'm not sure if this is the best place to post this question, but a friend of mine is looking for some music to play at her grandfather's memorial service (in Nebraska) and she remembers him talking about a version of "When the Saints Go Marching In" that starts out slow and then picks up. Here is her email:
"I guess my grandpa was looking for as he calls it the "New Orleans funeral March" of "When the Saints go Marching In" He said it starts really really slow and than slowly builds up. Danita and I looked on Youtube and found one that was about 6 min. long but just not sure if it was as slow as Grandpa explained.
Hopefully since you live down their, you might be able to find it."
The only versions of "When the Saints Go Marching In" that I've heard are upbeat. I am wondering if he was putting a couple songs together, like Closer Walk with Thee, but I said I'd ask, so here I am. Any ideas? I'd like to send her a CD or some MP3s, so if there is a definitive collection of jazz funeral music, please let know.
